How much is solar PV energy bought back for in Poland? RCEm and the quarterly URE price (2026)

There is no single “buy-back price” for solar PV energy in Poland. Under net-billing, surplus energy may be settled at the monthly RCEm price or at the market price RCE, which depends on when the energy is fed into the grid. The latest published RCEm — for September 2026 — is 345.68 PLN/MWh. That is 17.4% higher than in August.

If you first fed energy into the grid before 1 July 2024, you can stay with RCEm or voluntarily switch to RCE. Installations that started generating on or after 1 July 2024 are settled on RCE. The value of the prosumer deposit is additionally increased by a factor of 1.23.

RCEmA prosumer who started generating before 1 July 2024 and stayed on the monthly modelThe value of energy fed into the grid is calculated at the monthly market price of electricity published by PSE.
RCEProsumers from 1 July 2024 and earlier prosumers who voluntarily chose RCEThe value of energy depends on the market price in the period in which the energy was fed into the grid.
URE quarterly averageThis is not a prosumer net-billing indicatorAmong other things, it is a reference point in statutory mechanisms under which the obligated seller buys energy from renewable energy producers.

That is why, before comparing rates, you first need to establish the status of your installation and its settlement model. The price shown in an article does not yet tell you how much should appear in your deposit.

Why was the April RCEm so low?

Solar PV produces the most in the middle of a sunny day — exactly when a large supply of PV energy can push market prices down. For a prosumer, this means that peak production does not always fall in the most valuable hours. That is why self-consumption, load control and energy storage matter more and more.

If you want to make better use of your surplus, see also energy storage and self-consumption.

What to do when your surplus goes to the grid at a low price?

1. Check when you feed energy into the grid

RCEm shows a monthly average, but under RCE what counts is the moment the energy is fed into the grid. If your production falls in hours of low or negative prices, the size of the surplus alone says nothing about its value.

See: negative prices and EMS →

2. Compare production with consumption

The biggest optimisation potential usually only becomes visible once you compare your production profile, consumption and the hours in which energy is fed into the grid. This helps assess whether self-consumption, load control or energy storage makes sense.

Don’t track prices, profiles and invoices yourself

In the Energy Manager package we check invoices and settlements, analyse 15-minute and hourly profiles (where the DSO provides them), monitor energy purchasing and prepare a preliminary analysis of PV, energy storage and EMS. Packages from PLN 390 net/month.

What is the URE quarterly price?

The average quarterly selling price of electricity on the competitive market, published by the President of URE (the Polish Energy Regulatory Office), is a separate indicator. For Q2 2026 it is 427.01 PLN/MWh — 12.2% lower than in Q1 (486.14 PLN/MWh). It should not be compared 1:1 with a prosumer’s RCEm, because it serves other energy market mechanisms.

In the current consolidated text of the Polish Renewable Energy Sources Act, Article 41 states that in specified cases the obligated seller buys energy from producers other than prosumers, and the purchase price equals 100% of the average selling price of electricity on the competitive market in the previous quarter. That is why the URE indicator comes up in the context of “buy-back”, but it is not the settlement price for a typical net-billing prosumer.

If you are interested in the URE indicators used in distribution tariffs, see also Crk — the URE energy price and its impact on tariffs.

How to check prosumer settlement on your invoice?

  1. Check the date energy was first fed into the grid. This is the first step in establishing whether you can be settled on RCEm.
  2. Find the information on energy fed into the grid and on the prosumer deposit.
  3. Check whether your supplier applies RCEm or RCE.
  4. Compare the period and rate with official PSE data.
  5. Remember the 1.23 factor that increases the deposit value in the current system.

Check your invoice

Has your surplus been settled correctly?

Send us your prosumer invoice or deposit statement. We will check whether the settlement is based on the correct RCEm/RCE model, how the value of energy fed into the grid was calculated and whether the figures match PSE publications.

FAQ — RCEm, RCE and buy-back of solar PV energy

What is the latest RCEm in 2026?

For September 2026 PSE published an RCEm of 345.68 PLN/MWh. The data was published on 11 October 2026

Is every prosumer settled on RCEm?

No. A prosumer who started generating energy before 1 July 2024 can stay with RCEm or switch to RCE. Installations that started generating on or after 1 July 2024 are settled on RCE.

Is the URE price of 427.01 PLN/MWh a prosumer price?

No. It is the average selling price of electricity on the competitive market for Q2 2026 and applies to mechanisms other than prosumer net-billing.

Can RCEm change after publication?

Yes. PSE allows RCEm to be corrected until the 12th month after the end of the month the price applies to. Example: RCEm for October 2025 — 340.84 PLN/MWh was corrected to 330.27 PLN/MWh.

What if the supplier applied a different rate?

First, establish the settlement model, the period and how the deposit was calculated. Only then can the invoice be compared with RCEm/RCE. Send the document to PowerGO for verification.
