Hybrid inverter
PV + BESS FotowoltaikaA hybrid inverter is a power converter that operates with a PV installation and a compatible energy storage system. Within the limits of its topology, power rating and control algorithms, it manages energy flows between the modules, battery, loads and grid. It can charge and discharge the battery, increase self-consumption, limit demand peaks or export, and selected models provide a dedicated backup supply. Backup is not, however, a feature of every device and requires the appropriate output, switching equipment, neutral-conductor configuration and a compatible battery.
Before selection, the battery voltage range, BMS protocol, power and current, transfer time and islanding capability must be checked. The word “hybrid” does not guarantee supply for an entire site during an outage; the scope of backup loads follows from the design and the manufacturer’s instructions.
