PV inverter
DC→AC FotowoltaikaA photovoltaic inverter converts direct current from PV modules into alternating current with parameters required by the installation and grid. It controls the generator operating point through MPPT, synchronizes with the grid, monitors voltages and currents, and performs the protective and communication functions provided for the particular model. It may also regulate reactive power, power factor and active power in accordance with its settings and connection requirements. The scope of functions and their operation must be confirmed in the device documentation and certificates.
An inverter is selected for DC voltages, currents and power, string topology and grid conditions. At a given operating point, reactive-power control requires active-power curtailment only when the requested apparent power exceeds the device capability. The assessment includes the P–Q curve, temperature, DC/AC oversizing and distribution-system-operator requirements.
